To be honest i've been resistant about writing a blog. I've had one before and it didn't feel right to me. As a girl whose heart is in the drawing, it can feel like a big undertaking to become your own spokes person. Some people are blessed at being wonderful salesmen and I really do think it is such an amazing skill! But for some of us it's a little harder and the key for me is finding a balance. I've got to be genuine, learn more about how to promote my illustrations and to work on this, (you can probably tell i'm writing this to future me who has gotten lazy and needs a kick up the ass to get back on track)!
Ok step one, I want my blog to sound like me. This means starting with honesty. Our online personas can be kinda false, without meaning to be. For instance too many beach pictures would give the wrong impression, yes I live in Sydney but this isn't Home and Away and we don't go to there all that often. Also and most importantly is how I talk about my illustrations and what I encounter as a I try to improve what i've started. It isn't easy and I think sharing these real experiences of highs and lows is more useful.
I'm hoping this blog will serve as a way to document what i'm doing and what I learn! This could be trying to gain exposure, finding an agent or drawing hands that don't look like hooves! Whatever tips I pick up, i'll let you know as well trying to answer all those questions bunched up in my head! :-)
